Streaming TV

There are a lot of Streaming music channels online. But the most prominent Global players are definitely www.rock.com and www.live365.com. A newcomer that I can not recommend yet is Boombox. Read more...

www.live365.com (4.5/5) offers the widest range of musical choice and - if you do not mind some commercials now and then - it is free. Hundreds of channels are available... Definitely able to provide your personal choice. If you pay,... it is almost advertisement free. Nondisputandum favorites the live365 channel: Oldboys Rock Classics but if you are into Beethoven than you shall find it. You can setup dozens of channels on your own customizable mylive365 page. Do consider that Live365 also shows some small pop-up advertisement - if used free - during playtime. But that is a small price for a great service!

www.rock.com (4.5/5) is - as it says - a rock channel. It also provides information about the rock scene. And their streaming is screaming! Free, no registration,... very good! My favorite rock.com channel is Classic Rock.

Last FM (4/5) is another streaming music provider. Make an account and teach it to play your favorite tunes.

Music information

The ultimate source of information about music is www.ubl.com (4.5/5) aka The Ultimate Band list. If you cannot find information about your band here... than your band never existed ;-)

Free software to play sound files

iTunes for Windows (5/5)
Apple has a nondisputable good music player & jukebox. Let there be no dispute about that ;-)

QCD Player: Great jukebox & player!QCD player (5/5)
A powerful, absolutely ram friendly player that offers not only a great jukebox but also a plug-in to let songs smoothly fade from one tune into the other, like iTunes does, but using less resources. This player is one of the very best overall music players (not video) & juke-boxes. The developper is still working on a newer version.
Download at
www.xymantix.com (4/5) the candyglass skin that provides you with a very small fully featured floating button bar QCD navigator. Oh yes,... QCD also has an iTunes skin ;-)

 Other popular free software

WinAmp Player (.pls)Winamp (4.5/5) Great software in its version 2.x and now again since version 5.x. They finally admitted that version 3 was booooooware. They skipped version 4 as a token of major improvement. Indeed!

Real Player (.ram)Real Player (/) A well know piece of software. Used by many but not my cup of tea. IMHO to agressive in promoting itselves. De Gustibus et Coloribus non disputandum...

Windows Media Player (.asx)Media Player (4/5) Good software indeed. It plays (and visualizes) almost anything but not my cup of tea. De Gustibus et Coloribus...

Mozilla Songbird (Testing) is a new player. Theirgoal is to become the only player that gets along with all webshops.

Nondisputandum reviews the best free software

(/)

Sounds good, but for some reason not an option.

The ratings reflect the valor of software & websites for the active internet user, focussing on advanced comfort & a honest policy towards the client. All the reviewed free tools & sites have the potential to compete with commercial software. The few exclusively commercial initiatives reviewed here can not expect above a (4.5/5) rating. Not that they are less than superb but it is considered outstanding to offer superb software for a fair price. It is absolutely superb when one can have it without the obligation to pay for it. I do think it is fair to pay when equivalent free alternatives are unavailable and to donate when free software makes a difference. You will not find software reviewed below a (4/5) rating. The symbol (/) means that the software or website is reviewed but at the time for some reason excluded as a valuable option. Software or websites with a (/) code however have the potential to be selected if only: no nags, no aggressive public relations, no malware, no trackware, no tricks whatsoever, no harmful intentions. Read the disclaimer and enjoy the Nondisputandum project.
