Q & A: 24 7

A newsgroup dude said:
I have been told that turning it on in the morning and off at night is worse for the computer than just leaving it on 24/7.

Nondisputandum says:
It is said to be true for some reasons... but runnung it 24/7 has it's disadvantages equally.

I leave my pc running for a day or 2 when i'm using it/him/her ;-) intensively... but i believe that it's better to offer it a moment of rest from time to time... don't forget that components not only suffer from power boosts during start-up but also from heating aso...

If you keep your desktop pc running 24/7 for professional reasons, it' s advisable to start it up every 24h to empty ram (if you have 1 gig ram or less ;-),... don't forget the antivirus updates (if updated on start-up) etcetera... and check the temperature of components (case & processor) from time to time...

If you have a pc with quality components,.. i guess that is can't hurt to leave it on for several days... but I would close it down when there's no surveillance. There are mechanic components like vents & the HD that might go down during your absence...

Do you keep your TV running 24/7? That's exactly the same ya know when it comes to electronics... though a tv has no vents, no screen saver, etc... But also a power supply could cause problems. Not that I want to scare you... just be carefull, wil you!

Nondisputandum reviews the best free software

(/)

Sounds good, but for some reason not an option.

The ratings reflect the valor of software & websites for the active internet user, focussing on advanced comfort & a honest policy towards the client. All the reviewed free tools & sites have the potential to compete with commercial software. The few exclusively commercial initiatives reviewed here can not expect above a (4.5/5) rating. Not that they are less than superb but it is considered outstanding to offer superb software for a fair price. It is absolutely superb when one can have it without the obligation to pay for it. I do think it is fair to pay when equivalent free alternatives are unavailable and to donate when free software makes a difference. You will not find software reviewed below a (4/5) rating. The symbol (/) means that the software or website is reviewed but at the time for some reason excluded as a valuable option. Software or websites with a (/) code however have the potential to be selected if only: no nags, no aggressive public relations, no malware, no trackware, no tricks whatsoever, no harmful intentions. Read the disclaimer and enjoy the Nondisputandum project.
